Marlon Wayans on skewering Fifty Shades of Grey and carrying drinks with EL James
January 27, 2016 - Fifty Shades of Grey
The voluptuous follow-up to Fifty Shades of Grey has arrived — arrange of. Marlon Wayans, who brought we a Scary Movie franchise, is fusing passionate perversion and his offbeat clarity of amusement in a travesty directed during viewers who found eccentric billionaire Christian Grey as sore as he did.
“He’s unequivocally bad in bed; he’s flattering basic,” Wayans says. “So we suspicion it’d be a flattering humorous take, like, ‘What if he was black? Every time a [original film] had something critical or intense, we put a fun there.’”
Wayans — who co-wrote a script — stars as Christian Black, a untrustworthy businessman and ex-stripper captivated to Hannah (Kali Hawk), a lively contributor who has a three-spank-maximum rule.
“She’s a black girl, and black women don’t play that s–t,” says Wayans, laughing. “They’re usually going to understanding with so most before they’re like, ‘No, time out.’”
And that’s not a usually disproportion between his womanlike protagonist and a naïve ingénue played by Dakota Johnson in final year’s release.
“Our Hannah has a small some-more edge,” shares Wayans. “She resets this position of how guys consider they can get girls to do anything. It’s lenient for women and humbling for guys, given Christian has his comeuppance. At a finish of a day, a lady always wins …It’s not a blue planet, it’s a pinkish universe and girls order a world.”
But Wayans’ travesty isn’t lacking for NSFW material, with raunchy jokes about competition (Christian’s whips are named after worker movies), and sexuality.
“Black guys are like G.I. Joes,” says Wayans, laughing. ‘That’s since white women like a brothers. It’s since we pierce different. There’s a lot some-more control. We don’t need a toys. We can be into that, though brothers are a toys. Black guys, we got a magic.”
Though Wayans doesn’t share Christian’s welfare for bedroom gadgets (“I was so unimpressed by his ability set intimately in a movie,” he jokes. “I did that in high school!”), fans of Fifty Shades will find that his chronicle of a barbarous Red Room has copiousness by approach of bespoke accessories.
“It was a lot of fun to reconstruct a possess chronicle of a Red Room,” says a White Chicks star. “The curved things we do …Nothing’s off limits.”
So what does Grey author E. L. James — whom Wayans connected with over “gallons” of red booze during L.A. prohibited mark Chateau Marmont — consider about it all?
“She was like, ‘Did we take a piss out of my book?’ we was like, ‘We took a piss, a poop, a boogers, we took it all out,’” Wayans says. “She went, ‘Well, in that case, I’ll let my kids see it.’” Um, though usually if they’re over 17, of course.
